Training and Development
Employee communication and engagement can be further strengthened through training and development. The first engagement for an employee is usually with the HR manager and the immediate manager who communicates details of pay, work timings, company contract, programs, and policies. This is the first step in employee engagement where the roles, responsibilities, and goals of the new hire are communicated to him/her and how he/she can make a difference in the organisation. The introduction helps the new employee procure a thorough understanding of the organisational culture from day one.
Employees must feel supported, involved and connected to their organisation and its culture. Organisational culture and employee engagement are closely tied. The organisation’s vision and mission along with other business communications must be communicated with transparency for improving employee engagement. By focusing on employee requirements, a strong culture can be nurtured. While executing action plans, progress must be monitored closely, and proper rewards and recognition must be given to celebrate success. Conducting regular town halls and informal engagement in small groups are valuable ways for managers and employees to listen and respond.
Employee engagement and communication is much more than working together. It is about nurturing an ecosystem inspired by transparency and trust leading to higher engagement and better performance. A healthy employee engagement culture is of paramount importance in retaining talented employees through successful retention programs. By providing learning opportunities and exposure to latest technological advancements, efficient administrative support, and an open outlook of a great workplace, companies can support their employees’ needs to stay relevant and employable in a changing world.
