Nasscom Advisory: How to ensure employee safety during COVID-19 pandemic


Indian IT industry is taking proactive steps to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Various organisations and government have initiated social distancing to flatten the growth of the virus infection. IT apex body Nasscom has released an advisory detailing how IT firms can continue the business and ensure employee safety. Here are imprint points that employers and employees can follow to maintain safety:

1-The IT workers should shift all necessary equipments such as PC, devices from home to enable work from home. The employees should test all the network and preparedness of the environment at home to ensure business continuity. Also, it is important to keep the clients updated on all steps you are taking to ensure confidentiality.

2-It is highly critical to ensure that only mission critical functions, which cannot be done from home are operated from office.

3-Employees that are asked to come to work need to communicate why they need be at the office, why their contribution is important, and how the company is looking after their health and safety. Escalation contact details need to be published clearly. IT companies need to form relevant teams that can be in constant touch with these employees to assuage their concern or issues.

4-All workplace areas must be deep cleaned, sanitised, and masks should be provided to employees that are coming to office. These workers must avoid public transport. Seating arrangements should be restructured to ensure social distancing norms are followed.

5-In case of a complete lockdown, companies must community the force measure applicability to their customers.
