The onset of COVID-19 disrupted the way businesses function. The subsequent lockdown made things difficult, but technology emerged a saviour. Within days, organisations across industries rose to the challenge and adapted to new ways of
Workplaces changed overnight to accommodate a new normal and hence pushed all of us to adapt to a new culture. Technology enabled organisations to connect their employees and keep business running to ensure customers got what they need with no supply shortage of products.
To seamlessly execute this, new digital solutions were adopted for smooth functioning of businesses. New rules are being formulated for work from home keeping in mind employee’s personal commitments too, making sure there is no work-life imbalance for employees.
A new work for home policy is in the pipeline at Field Fresh (Del Monte) where we will fix timelines and specify working hours. The biggest change in our system is the working style of our sales team and manufacturing teams. We have re-looked and aligned the area of operations for our sales staff keeping their safety as first priority.
Complete flexibility is being provided to the team whose work requires field visits. Multi-skilling programme is being run at plants to ensure we can pitch in for each other. All these measures are taken to ensure seamless experience to our customers with strong positive impact on business.
This is in-line with our “Customer at the Center” value. At a time when consumers were uncomfortable venturing out for dining and were dabbling with building their culinary skills, we remained committed to make products available to them at their doorstep through various partners. We also ensured we shared recipe videos that gave simple and time saving ways to cook at home at a time when the number of meals being made at home increased.
All the teams have been at forefront of this transformation and every single employee has partnered in providing Flexibility to their teams and adapting to new normal. Everyone quickly equipped themselves for new virtual engagements – Reviews, Catch ups, Learning and Interacting. We have been creating awareness around mental fatigue and to address it online classes have been launched for keeping mind and body fit and not to mention, motivational lectures by experts have been few highlights of new changes brought in due to COVID-19.
Unprecedented times call for a human touch to ensure that employees who are working without a team are being able to spend time with each other and do not face issues like anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Friday hangouts have been replaced by virtual meetings with organisations focusing on employee’s well-being, mental health, stress management and many other fun activities to keep the ball rolling and tide over such times.
